Workout or Ride

Never being someone who avoids hills, I like being strong on them and can only attain a certain level of performance by repeatedly attacking them. So with the weather transitioning into the rainy season this month, I have been increasing my time in the gym with more focus on my legs to increase my performance on hills. I will still ride my bike, but I will also include my fluid trainer on the days I work my legs hard in the gym.
What is making this gym time hard is the often unpredictable Pacific Northwest weather has become unseasonably pleasant with high temps in the 60′s and lots of sunshine. Thus, deciding to keep the weight training going or riding at will has become a tough choice. It is tough because this weather trend appears to be continue through the weekend and into next week.
My next leg day at the gym will be tomorrow, so I decided to go for a ride to “test” my legs. (Actually I just wanted to go out in the crisp 36 degree weather and feel the cold air and fog on my face.) They felt good as I pushed into my first hill, but felt a bit sluggish by the time I arrived home.
Between now and tomorrow I will need to decide to continue with the workout plan or modify it to accommodate my addiction to riding.
