Start of My Day

Published by Bob at 10:57 am under bicycling, thoughts

When I awoke this morning it was 48 degrees and raining. Instead of my normal morning routine of coffee and oatmeal, I decided I was going to go out for my morning coffee. As I rode the wind blew and the rain came down, but it was a nice ride to Starbucks.

After enjoying my Mocha and newspaper, I headed home and the same weather conditions prevailed as I cruised along on my three mile journey home. Now I know three miles isn’t much of a ride, but for some reason I felt a little colder than normal. I don’t know if it was because I left home immediately after getting out of bed or if it was because the coffee was hot and Starbucks felt warm inside. Whatever the cause I was feeling cold when I arrived back home.

Once inside I immediately turned on the shower and set it for hot. One of my showers is next to my laundry room and being a multitasking single person, I also turned on the clothes dryer to get the wrinkles out my t-shirts. So while I showered my clothes dryer ran.

After getting out of the shower I toweled off and realized in my haste to warm up I had not set any clothes out, so I grabbed socks and underwear out of the dryer. Now let me tell you there is something to be said about how you start off your day. But starting the morning with a ride, coffee, and a hot shower is a great start to the day, then add to this warm underwear and you sort of get that warm and fuzzy feeling that today will be a great day. :-)

Coffee and hot shower may be a good start. I am not sure about riding in rain when it is 48 degrees. That sounds miserable.

It doesn’t sound miserable, it sounds like winter in the Northwest. :-)

I have actually lived in the Northwest. Two years in Othello, WA, not really like the other side of the cascades. And I also got my graduate degree at Oregon State. I would love to be back there.
