Sheldon Brown
During my lunch time walk I came across this sticker on a pedestrian bridge, which crosses the Brooklyn rail yard in Portland. It took me by surprise as I walked by the sticker and saw a familiar smiling face. It is amazing how many people can be touched by one person with a passion for bicycling.
Sheldon Brown was one of those people who touched so many in the cycling community. His web pages date back to late 1996 when most people had not heard of the internet or email, he was truly a pioneer in many ways.
Somehow seeing the sticker of Sheldon reminded me of friends asking me if I belong to any bicycling advocacy groups? I tell them I do not need to participate in those groups, I am an advocate by being seen by so many people every time I ride my bicycle.

Sheldon Brown was certainly a big loss for bicycling.

Sheldon did more for giving bicycling positive image than advocacy groups ever will.
