Pedal Power
Today I rode my bike to a coffee shop, took along a book to read when I got there, and after getting my coffee I sat outside to read and enjoy the sunshine. To me there isn’t a better way to enjoy a sunny morning than to ride and stop to enjoy some coffee and a good book.
Currently I am reading Pedal Power: The Quiet Rise of the Bicycle in American Public Life written by J. Harry Wray, a political science professor at DePaul University.
This book brings stories and examples of the impact people are making by choosing to ride or having an interest in bicycling. If you are interested in bicycling, changing the way Americans view cyclist and support the continuing change of bicycling infrastructure, then this book is good reading for you.
Whether you know it or not, or even want to be, you are making a statement and participating in grassroots advocacy by riding your bike. That’s power… Pedal Power.
