Making Progress

Published by Bob at 10:35 am under bicycling, commuting

Yesterday I decided to commute to work by bike again and experience the suffering I had earlier in the week. Actually I only suffered on a couple of hills and I lived to ride another day, so it wasn’t all that bad. I think because I am use to being in better condition, it felt like I was suffering. A friend said I was feeling like a normal person.

Anyway I left work at 9:30pm last night and enjoyed the last waining moments of sunset. I decided to take a side trip through downtown Portland over Hawthorne Bridge and enjoyed the view of the city then cruise along the Waterfront and back over the river and north to home.

Once in Vancouver, I took a different route which took me past Clark College and up the hill to the heights. Although I went up the hill slower than I normally do it was not as bad as my previous commute, so I must be making progress in my fitness level. The ride home was extremely enjoyable and it makes two times I commuted this week. My legs feel good this morning and will most likely use my bike to get around today and possibly take a joyride this evening to a bookstore.
